Timing is everything on social media. We take a look at how to optimise your posts to make the majority of users view it!
The best time to post on social media may help you gain a larger audience and that means more opportunities to gain potential new followers, boost engagement and drive traffic.
So, when are the best times to post on social media?
Firstly, you need to identify your target audience. Who are they and where are they located? Using analysing tools such as Google Analytics allow you to identify your audience reliably and efficiently. Through analytics, you can view interests, behaviours and locations of the people who visit your website. Therefore, you are able to identify who is visiting your website, and therefore may be interested in your social media content. Through Twitter Analytics, you are also available to preview 'Audience Insights' which allows you to study facts such as audience, gender, age, location, interests, and even mobile carrier! Also, you can use analytics through Facebook and Instagram.
But while there is no perfect time to post, there are resources that can help you find the optimal times.
What's the best time to post on Twitter?
According to a study by Hootsuite, the best time to post on Twitter is at 3pm from Monday to Friday. However, this can differ in relation to alternate articles. The Huffington Post, for example, says 5 p.m., 12 p.m., and 6 p.m., are the best times for Retweets, while 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. also deliver higher click-through rates. Kissmetrics says weekdays at 5 p.m. are most effective, and Hubspot came to the same conclusion as Hootsuite, that: 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. Monday to Friday is best.
What's the best time to post on Instagram?
According to a study by Hootsuite, the best time to post on Instagram is from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Again, using Instagram Analytics, you can identify the prime times to post via Instagram relating to your organisation.
What's the best time to post on Facebook?
According to Hootsuite, “Tuesdays are a bit behind other weekdays in terms of Facebook engagement,” Hootsuite social media marketing specialist Amanda Wood explains. “But 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. is still the most effective window on that day.”
However, as always you should test and track results using data from Facebook Insights to determine the best times to post for your business.
